The princess pug and I wish each and every one of you a spooky, woofalicious Halloween!

Yet another puglet photo from our Halloween shoot. One more to go… the spookies come tomorrow night!

I love the way she looks off in the distance.

Some of my favourite shots of Merry are ones where she suddenly looks away to someplace else in the room. I have no idea what she’s looking at. Dust motes seem to fascinate her. :)

During our Halloween photo shoot, I tried a few different things, including placing Merry in a leather-wrapped bin with a Halloween towel thrown over it. While she hunkered down in there just fine and didn’t squirm a bit, the look on her face says it all – get me out of here, Mom! :)

Last month, Merry and I had a two hour photo shoot to try and come up with the Halloween-themed photos you see on the home page. The rest of this week, in honor of the holiday season, we’ll share some of the other shots that were good… just not good enough for the home page, for one reason or another. ;) Here, the little bit looks like she wants to snack on my stuffed vampire bat.

A pug’s tail is the ultimate expression of their mood. When they’re excited, happy or feeling good (which is most of the time) it’s tightly curled up over their back and wriggles like a curly little snake when they’re dancing for the ball. When they’re sad, worried or sick it droops down between their legs and really, when you see it you’re willing to do just about anything to make the little punkin feel better.

Since the day I took her home at age 4 months, Merry has hated getting her nails clipped. I’ve never cut her quick or made her bleed – if anything, I keep her nails far too long – but even so, she squeals and squirms and really, it would take a sedative and three strong men some days to get her to submit to a clipping. I’ve finally given up and gotten professional help (after this photo was taken!), and Merry now has a standing monthly appointment at the groomer’s to get her nails done.
A quick update for all of you who were so kind to post your get well wishes over the past week: Merry’s Grandpa is doing much better and is now at home. Our family thanks you for the words of support. I can’t tell you what it’s meant to them, or to me.

My thanks to all who posted their get well wishes over the last two days. Merry’s Grandpa is doing much better and we hope to see him come home soon. Here, the princess cuddles with Grandma (who herself, as you can see, is undergoing cancer treatment). Since Grandpa got sick, Merry has been Grandma’s constant companion, sleeping in the crook of her knee for the last three nights. Isn’t she a sweetheart?
