December, 2007 Archives

The princess looked so adorable in her pink fleece coat with “Santa” hood that I had to grab her pink ball and make it a play date this morning. She had a blast barrelling down the sidewalks – since the snow was nearly to my waist between sidewalk and street and there were no driveways in that area, it seemed the safest place to play!

We got DUMPED with snow last weekend and as such play in the park or on the lawn is currently not an option – it’s over her head. :)

I keep lots of shatterproof ornaments (in many sizes and colors) around the house for photo shoots during the holiday season both with the pug, and for other shoots I might feel inspired to do. I grabbed the largest of them and started rolling it down the hall for the princess, and did she EVER get excited. :) She had GREAT fun chasing it around with her nose, nudging it back towards me! I think I’ve come up with another great toy alternative for the holidays! *laughs*

Merry’s coming to town! :) Finally I got some of the Christmas images I’ve been taking processed – stay tuned, Merry (Christmas) lovers ’cause there’s lots more where this came from…

woof!

It’s so tough to catch the princess mid-woof, since tiny dogs tend to ride air (jump up and down) every time they bark. But this action shot amused me – and thought it might do the same for you. :)

Oh, I can’t wait to start showering you all with Christmas pictures! I have so many ideas for holiday-themed pictures and next week we’ll start shooting them in earnest. :) Happy weekend, all!

Side note: thank you all for the kind birthday wishes. It was a great day.

The princess wished me a Happy Birthday this morning in her usual way: snuggling in close, licking my hand, and then donning her favorite (and mine) pink winter outfit, complete with boots, for our walk this morning. I realized while we were walking that I got the princess when I was still in my twenties – I’m 36 this year, erg – it seems so long ago! She’s been a wonderful companion and I can’t imagine my life without her.

The princess is SO funny when you’re playing fetch with her and you don’t throw the ball when she expects. She stretches her neck and howls at the sky – clearly, puny human, you do not understand that you’re supposed to GIMME the ball. *laughs*

Well, we got dumped with snow on the 1st of December and Merry and I (and her Daddy-to-be) had a great time walking around the morning of the 2nd, admiring the newly-fallen snow and the new holiday decorations people in our ‘hood were putting up over the weekend. The princess looked so cute in her and red tee and red boots and red collar I had to take a picture. ;)

How on earth did it get to be December? Weren’t we just ringing in the new year? Sheesh. The princess bounded up in bed this morning, eager to meet the day, and to remind me that it’s December, our favorite month of the year – month of her namesake (Merry… you guess the rest) as well as my birthday. It’s also a month where lights sparkle, trees glisten, fireplaces never seem more welcoming, hot chocolate reigns… it’s going to be so much FUN! Stay tuned for the beginning of the Christmas parade of photos – you gotta know now that I have my new camera we’ll all be enjoying some awesome shots this holiday!
