feeling punk

The princess has been feeling a little under the weather the past day or so – she threw up yesterday morning, and then was fine for the rest of the day… only to throw up again this morning. Guess it’s an all-rice, all-the-time diet for the next 24 hours for you, little girl, until your tummy settles down! (And OH won’t she be happy – the princess HATES the all-rice diet.)

If it persists, we’ll be taking her to the vet but this is not my first time around the block – the princess seems to go through little episodes like this every few years or so. I figure it’s her way of keeping me on my toes – no slacking for pug mommies! Will keep everyone updated, but based on past history (and the fact that she’s still alert and happy and begging food 5 minutes later) I’m sure it’s just a tummy upset that our patented, all-rice diet will fix up without any more problems.

More from our play date last weekend. :) I find myself actually wishing for more snow – since most of what was there on the weekend melted off on Monday. The red looked so great against the snow.:)

playday!

Yes, we went and frolicked in a small, fenced in local park over the weekend, and the princess (as you can see) had a great time. We do notice she tires more easily, is far more easily distracted and even with the contrast of dark ball/white snow she lost the ball frequently. It makes play a lot more tiring for all of us, but it’s worth it to see her have fun!

Lots more great red & white pug play pictures coming up in days to come – stay tuned. :)

Merry really doesn’t bark a lot, mainly because I’ve trained her not to – not only does it grate on my spinal cord but because I truly believe (and my research into training during Merry’s first year certainly backed up those beliefs) that, in most instances, it allows an environment where aggression can occur, and I most definitely didn’t want a dog with aggression problems. Oh, I let her howl for the ball when we’re playing, or for a treat if I’m teasing her, but otherwise it’s something we continually work with her to keep to a minimum.

Since her eyesight has gotten worse, however, she does tend to bark a bit more – at nothing, usually (I’m assuming she sees phantoms or movement off in the blind distance). It’s made it tougher to enforce no-bark training since she often isn’t barking AT anything real. :)

(And in the photo, I totally LOVE how her little back foot is off the ground.)

ahh! not the camera!

Even supermodels need a day off from looking glamorous and sleek for the cameras. :) Have a super weekend, everyone!

The princess in the outfit we’ve affectionately dubbed The Liberace Coat (we LOVE this faux fur coat), showing just enough pug ‘tude to ensure she’s still the Fabulous Miss Pug M. :)

On a side note, anyone but me miss the pug playing on green grass photos? I’m so sick of seeing the pug laying down or staring at the camera; I need me some action shots. While I can’t do much about the grass (sigh – I hate January) I can do something about the action shots. We’ll lug the pug down to the park this weekend and find a nice, safe corner to play in where she’ll be less likely to wander.

can we say aww?

Oh she’s such a sucky puppy in the morning now that she’s an “old lady”. :) But beautiful, and she entices me to crawl back in bed for a few minutes more for puppy cuddles all too often!

that grin

It’s tougher these days to get that grin – we don’t play outside as often now that the princess’s eyesight isn’t what it used to be. And indoor shooting frankly sucks in a house unless you can get your prince or princess near a good source of natural light. But I managed here. :) Just to reassure you all that she’s still smiling, not just sleeping!

In keeping with the Friday “sleepy girl” theme, I share a photo taken yesterday morning of the world’s cutest pug, half-asleep and requesting her early morning belly rub. What a ham. :) Enjoy your weekend everyone!

pink leash

The princess out for her morning walk – wearing her fabulous fur coat and, as you can see, an extensible leash. For everyday walks in our neighbourhood, I prefer the extensible leash because it lets me keep her close for most of the time, but let her out if there are no cars around or if she’s in the park. But when we do heavy-duty walking in the city on the sidewalk, I much prefer a regular leash since it helps me to feel safer walking the pug near so many whizzing cars. :)

If the pictures lately have seemed too dark, too light, too fluorescent, or some other kind of color/light/dark weirdness, please bear with me. I’m trying to get a new image editing space set up on one of my computers and am having a nightmare learning about color calibration. :) Thanks for your patience!
