Who says royalty can’t have four paws and a glorious mane of creamy fur? She knows she’s got blue blood in there somewhere. You can just tell. ;)

In her (shiny blue cataract) you can see me holding a stuffed toy off camera left. I’d bop her in the nose with it to get her all excited and then click the shutter. Don’t worry, she got LOTS of playtime with the toy right afterwards. :)

I know it’s just her underbite. I know it’s just her underbite. If you had those great big jowls they’d get caught in your underbite too. She’s not actually throwing me a cross between a teenages “what-ever” face and a “harrumph”.

But it’s so much more fun to believe she’s actually giving me a LOOK. So I’ll just keep on fooling myself. ;)

"You will give me a treat. You will give me a treat. You will give me a treat."

Happy Memorial day weekend to all our US friends!

The princess outside playing with her noisy but enormous green ball. :) I can’t believe she’s strong enough to pick up that ball – it’s got to be two pounds!

I love the deep dark look on the princess – you just KNOW she’s thinking “Nobody ever plays with me. Like, ever. I’m the most neglected dog on the planet. You hate me. I’m the saddest thing. Ever.”. :)

And thanks to everyone for participating in our giveaway over the weekend! There are some great blogs in there. Some I read already, some were new to me, but I think everyone will benefit from giving them a look-see.

Now, on to the winner! Using Random.org’s Integer Generator, here’s what we came up with:

Congratulations, Heather! I’ll be emailing you in a moment to get your info so I can ship your prize out to you.

Stay tuned, folks – I’ve been in such a good mood this spring that I may just have to give another batch of stuff away soon!

2008.05.16.jpg

All this wonderful springtime weather, combined with a 3-day weekend this weekend (in Canada, it’s Victoria Day – roughly analagous to the US Memorial Day weekend) and finally being over the silly cold/flu/plague I’d had last week and part of this week, has put me in a super mood.

So, we’re going to have a giveaway! Yippee!

I’d like to know what other photo blogs you all read other than, of course, this one. :) I read a ton of photo blogs, especially dog-related ones, every single day – and I’m always looking for more ideas. So tell me: what photo blogs do you like?

To enter the random giveaway, just share your fave photo blog by leaving a comment. (It’s OK if we get duplicate blogs mentioned, but let’s try and make as wide a list as possible!) One entry per person, please; we’ll accept entries until 9:00 AM Tuesday morning. Winner will be selected randomly – I’ll be using Random.org’s Integer Generator (thanks to Ree for the tip) to choose the winning entry, and I’ll post the winner on Tuesday’s Merrylog.

Grand (and only) prize: a copy of The Digital Photography Book, Volume 2 by Scott Kelby and Creative Canine Photography by Larry Allan. Guaranteed to help take your own photography of your furkid up to the next level. :) (Scott Kelby is, like, totally awesome.)

Contest is now closed. Winner will be announced later today!

meeting Didymus

One of our neighbours has an absolutely adorable little fuzzball. I can never remember the pooch’s name – hence the title Fuzzball, but in reality the little guy totally reminds me of Sir Didymus from Labyrinth. He’s not quite as terrier-like visually, but he’s got the attitude down pat. ;) Merry loves making circles around him and getting affection from his owner/daddy/person.

fetch

The princess and I went out to the park to try out her new noisy ball (the inner yellow ball is filled with some kind of beads, so it makes noise as it rolls). It worked great for fetch, but I think we should buy the next size down – this size is VERY heavy, I’m afraid of beaning her on the head. ;)

View it larger on Flickr (requires a Flickr membership).

On a completely different topic, I’ve been thinking about trying my hand at photographing pooches other than the princess (gasp!). If you’re local to us (Toronto), own a pooch, and would be interested in a free 5×7 print of your pooch in exchange for letting me practice my photo skills on your furkid(s), leave a comment below (be sure to use your email address – don’t worry, it won’t show up below, but I’ll be able to email you back) or email me at angie AT pampered puppy dot com.

We did a review this month of an absolutely amazing portrait of Merry. Here’s a closeup look. It’s even more breathtaking in person. Read the review if you’re curious why this Degas treatment in particular so captured my heart. ;)
