Gosh, she’s just the most fun to play with ever. Never fails to make me smile. I thought I’d post this today, since she’s already sitting in a car with her Daddy driving to Grandma & Grandpa’s for the weekend. I miss the little bit already. I work all day with her in the office, so not hearing her playing, licking, sniffing around and looking for attention is very distracting (you’d think it would be the opposite – *laughs*).

Besides which, you should have seen the packed bag that went off with her. I’m completely crazy about such things and so packed a t-shirt (for normal weather), a sweatshirt (in case it gets cold), a raincoat (in case it rains), one collar & leash to match with all those items (they were all pink, so that was easy) plus two different harnesses in case it’s really hot and she needs to go “au naturel”, an entire roll of baggies for poop, her kibble for the weekend, a bag of treats, a noisy ball that she can find more easily during playtime, her toothpaste and toothbrush, some shampoo in case she gets dirty, (are you horrified yet? I’m not done…) her eye medications, printed instructions on how to administer her meds plus walking/feeding information, a list of her meds, the names & numbers of her vets, names & numbers for both a vet and an emergency clinic in my parents’ town, a brush to groom her with, and her jammies. My mom and dad already have dog bowls, a bed, and toys for her there. :) Yup, I’m crazy!

But – woo! Vacay’s imminent! Enjoy your weekend, and for my Canuck friends: Happy Canada Day weekend!

The princess looked spiffy indeed on this morning’s walk, with her gothy funky black dress and gold collar & leash. I swear, the pug’s hipper than I am. :)

I’m totally considering sending this outfit along with her to Grandma & Grandpa’s this weekend. Can’t you just see my dad walking the pug in this getup? *grin*

you’re leaving me?

I am a wussy pug mom, and I’m I admit it. It’s a rare occurence indeed for me to leave the pug alone with a babysitter – I can count the number of times on one hand. And it’s never been for this long – five whole days.

The pug leaves with her daddy on Friday, who is driving her to her Grandma & Grandpa’s house. And I don’t see her again until Tuesday.

Sure, I’ll be on vacation and that’s the whole point. :) But as the date draws near I’m starting to be a wuss about the whole thing. I hate it when the pug’s not here – even when she’s just overnight at the vet, it’s so quiet and it makes me sad and miss her like crazy. I’m used to her following behind me everywhere I go.

And yes, I know that’s silly. I know she’ll have a wonderful, incredibly spoiled time with my parents. And my fiance and I are in dire need of this little mini vacation together.

But she’s my baby. What can I say?

Merry rolled over this morning while sleepy and cuddly to remind me that it’s her Grandma’s birthday today, and she’s a lovely 39 years old (again!). Here’s Merry’s Grandma cuddling with her during a recent visit.

Happy birthday, mom. ;)

The princess went shopping with us the other evening to pick up a few necessities. As usual, she charmed everyone she met, and was a very good watchdog over the bags (which you can see in the background). She’s such a little sweetie.

All stretched out on black fur, you’d think the pug would be used to me sticking my camera in her face, but she seemed particularly shocked this morning. ;)

But she was just so cute, I had to. Could you resist this face? I didn’t think so.

Look at that face. :) What an expression!

The princess asked me to pass along a message to you all: don’t forget to get out and play this weekend! Run! Jump! Catch balls and frisbees with your teeth! (Or, you know, let your pooch do more of that last one.)

pile ‘o pugs

I didn’t start out to create a PugCollection(tm), but it seems like once you own a pug, people just start giving you/buying you pug stuff. This is only a portion of the pug-related-merch collection, despite my attempts to keep it smaller. :)

Larger version of this photo on Flickr, if you have an account.

Is this a pug-only thing? (I’ve noticed that some pug aficianados really get into pug merch collecting.) Or do owners of Bostons, Frenchies, Yorkies, Chis, etc. also get barraged with gifts of dog-themed merch?

shake shake shake

One of the best things about those great big rubber balls is that when she does the shake shake shake with ‘em, you can see the ball stretch out when captured on camera just at the right moment. ;)

I’ve heard from some of my friends that they’ve never seen another pug do that – “worry” the ball back and forth violently before bringing it back, nearly beaning themselves on the head. I’ve seen lots of big dogs do it though. Is it just Merry? Pug (and other mini-pooch) owners, what say you?
