We’ve had this ball for a while, but this was its first jaunt outside. It’s actually a Weasel Ball (Google it – you’ll find tons of ‘em) with the Weasel removed. Because it’s hard plastic and bigger than Merry’s mouth, she has to kind of “nudge” it along with her mouth rather than pick it up. Because it has a battery inside, it’s the perfect ball for pug who’s going blind, because it rolls around constantly and therefore never “stops” making some kind of noise as it rolls along… making it easy to find. For a lazy pet parent, it’s the perfect ball because if it rolls under furniture it will roll itself back out.
That said, these aren’t “pet toys” per se and should only be used under constant monitoring. When we’re not actively playing with the ball and watching her every move, we keep the ball tucked away in a safe place.
Anyway, we actually got her hooked on this ball way before she started to lose her eyesight, brought back from a trip where it seemed it might be fun for her. And that’s when we made the discovery:
The pug’s MANIACAL for the ball. I mean she loves it, hoots and hollers and woofs and howls at it as she chases it around… for hours. Hence, its name: “I’m going to bring out The Noisy Ball for a while and play with the pug”. And in this house, everyone knows what that means. :)
When she’s playing, you can’t watch TV or talk on the phone, and yep, it’s a little headache inducing after a while, but she has so much FUN with it that we have to play with it at least a few times a week.
Now, I know already that you guys are gonna want video. And I’m going to try again to get some. But honestly she runs around the house in so many directions at once with this thing that it’s almost impossible to keep her in frame. I tried to video her once and almost fell on my butt, dizzy!
