The princess howled more than she played on the weekend – she was just too funny, every time she had to wait for the ball, she’d just jump up and down and howl her silly face off.

Thank you, crazy pug, for making me laugh.

I love it when she looks all confused. It’s totally cute.

so very redbook

It wasn’t my intention to take a post that looked kind of 70′s Redbook (but with an 80′s outfit, natch – well, as I said, I hadn’t planned it), but as I was processing this photo today I realized it totally looks like it came out of the pages of an old magazine. I’m not sure what it is – the focus, certainly, the angle, and the colors (warm autumn colors were VERY 70s), the depth of levels (or lack thereof), probably a combination of them all. But I thought it was funny. :)

To everyone who asked: Merry is a very bipartisan pug. If she’d been allowed to vote in yesterday’s election, she would have voted for free dog treats in every store, outdoor dog parks on every block, and to change the law that disallows pugs from taking office. She’d love to be top dog. ;) Plus, big white house to run around? Hel-lo?

Just a reminder to all of our US friends – please vote today, regardless of your political leanings… every vote counts, and it’s important to stand up and let your opinions and beliefs be heard. (Merry had great fun going with us to vote last month in Canada’s federal election.) Plus, everyone who votes today gets a free (virtual) pug kiss from the princess… and everyone knows princess pugs give the best kisses.

play date

Merry and I had a wonderful play date yesterday at the park. I think I’m finally settling into a system that works for us – I sit at the bottom of a gentle hill, and throw the ball uphill – this way she can “sense” where to go to find the ball… as long as she’s going uphill, she’s going the right way. And back to Mommy means back down the hill. I can’t throw the ball very far – maybe 8, 10 feet at most – otherwise she gets lost, but as long as I can be reliable about where I land the ball, she has a great old time and wanders off far less often.

Couple more shots from our playdate tomorrow, promise!

While I ended up working till 5:30 am (!) to make up for it, I really did enjoy taking an hour or so off yesterday to walk with my fiance and the pug all dressed for Halloween through our ‘hood. The princess had many admirers, as always, and most folks seemed to get a real kick out of our warrior princess. :) Merry was in a state of hyper excitement most of the walk, since every few minutes someone would stop to talk to her, rub her head, or take her picture… or all three. She even got a few treats from our local pet store, isn’t that sweet?

Hope all of you had an excellent Halloween – hopefully more exciting than mine! *laughs*
