my favorite things

The pug’s velvety ears, her cute little curled up tail, Christmas gear (that’s her Santa hoodie coat and Candy Cane collar again), and snow. These are a few of
my favorite things.

What’s yours?

Reminder: if you’re wanting a Merrylog 2009 Calendar as a Christmas gift, time’s running short! Here are the ordering deadlines.

(As an aside, EVERYONE I’ve shown the physical calendar to has been blown away by the quality of the prints and the calendar itself – real, heavy, quality work, not like the cheap stuff they sell in malls this time ‘o year. :)

itchy face

Caught a rarity on camera today: she scratches her face several times a day but I’m never fast enough with the camera to capture it. :) Doesn’t her little squished up face look cute?

snow! play! yes!

The princess was very happy this morning. Soft white mounds of snow and a round of fetch. (Thought the red hoodie – so cute! – and the green ball made a nice holiday combo.)

Did everyone have a good weekend? It was my birthday (my 29th – again!) and I was lucky enough to be surrounded by friends and family and lots of laughter and good food.

pug, the howler

Her increased howls lately have allowed me to capture more photos of the princess mid-howl. She’s so funny.

I’m glad you all liked the vid yesterday! I may start making that a regular feature – maybe once a week or so?

Thought I’d show all of you my Christmas princess all decked out in her new Christmas gear: the Santa coat (read the review) and a candy cane collar (read the review). Longtime readers will remember that Merry’s name came from my love of Christmas – she was an early Christmas present to myself and I called her Merry to remind me of Christmas all year ’round.

Plus, a bonus video! So many of you have been commenting lately on how happily Merry plays fetch (I’m so sorry I’ve convinced so many of you to try fetch with less happy results – but it really did take some time with the princess too) so I thought I’d share a live video version. The howling – to this degree – is new, she’s only been doing it more often since her eyes started to get worse the past few months. It’s a hoot – but noisy. :) Also, please ignore the pasty white hand in the peach sweatshirt – it was a yoga pants day!

It’s not often I manage to figure out how to play tug-of-war and hold a camera at the same time (my camera isn’t exactly light – and it’s worse when I have my 17-40 lens on it) but I managed over the weekend… just so I could show you all how cute and fierce the princess is while playing. Isn’t she cute? You should hear the little growls she makes when playing tug. Oh so fierce!

One unexpected thing from her trip to the vet on Friday is that they shaved her entire chest to do the ultrasound – we didn’t discover it until later Friday evening after we got her home. (Good thing I got the photos of her chest on Friday, right? laughs – it won’t look like that again for a while) Poor little pug! She looks so odd without belly hair, and gets chilly so easily. We’ve been keeping her in hoodies all weekend to help her stay warm. :)
