Oh, she gets excited when we play outdoors. It’s still one of the greatest smiles of my day, to see how excited and happy she gets when we bring out the ball. Crazy little pug!

For our fashion-lovin’ readers, Merry’s sporting a DogChewz NYC faux fur coat and these boots, which I swear by. Merry has, like, four pairs.

You know what I love about dogs? Even when the sun hasn’t been out in days and you’re working too hard and you can’t get the bandaid to stick to your finger or the stupid box to line up on the web page, they still love you. And if you take five minutes out of your day to play with them, they reward you with this look. Smiles all around. :)

Another outdoor play shot – too adorable not to share, between the wild eye and slurpy pug tongue. ;) Hope everyone had a great weekend!

When you’re (mostly) blind, even the smallest leap can feel like a mountain. Poor little pug. :)

We snuck out in the snowfall yesterday to play a little. She looked so cute with her tongue peeping out, I had to share.

I apologise for the late post today and complete lack of post yesterday! I’m working on two completely top-secret projects right now (you’ll get the scoop later this month) and they’re taking every brain cell in my head and a few more besides. :)

pug of war

One of the downsides to taking as many photos as I do (I average between 8 GB and 16 GB of RAW files per month) is that you never seem to have enough time to process everything you’d like to. It makes you a better editor of your work, I think, but it also can leave real gems untouched for months.

Case in point: the pug of war. I wanted to get Merry in her armor in front of a good stone wall – something that would look suitably medieval. I found it, and shot this in the fall, but never got around to processing it till now because I knew I wanted a different “post process” look than my usual fare. Took me a while to get close to what I wanted, but here’s the result.

And yes, I snickered often while processing this. Doesn’t she look hysterical? :)

what playmate?

Merry has never really “gotten” the whole playmate thing the same way other dogs do. We have playdates, of course, and we take her to parks & let her run around with other pooches, but even when we used to take her to pug meetups (like Pugoween) she would tend to ignore the other dogs and just run around by herself, thrilled to have the wind in her floppy sweet ears.

We took her over to play with her new friend Mikka (you can see more pictures of the deliciously sweet girl here) and without her vision, it seemed like Merry (though VERY happy to be there) had even less interest than usual in playing with other dogs. Most of the day they played separately OR sweet Mikka followed Merry around wanting to play with her but not able to figure out how. She’d watch Merry howling and dancing for the ball, and she’d howl at her, bark at her, waggle her tail, lick Merry’s chin… anything to get her attention. I felt so sorry for the poor puglet and offered to take wee Mikka home to make it up to her… but her folks didn’t quite agree. :)
