If you’re Irish, or just “Irish for the day”, Happy St. Patty’s Day!

I don’t often take silhouettes of the pug, since I love her sweet little face so much, but I thought the light in this was awesome.

Thanks to all who voted in Friday’s poll. Looks like the majority would rather see a smaller, less expensive book… in this economy, I can’t blame you one bit. :) Hopefully her book will be ready by her birthday in June!

For those of you getting us via our feed – I apologise for the photo mixup on Friday’s photo. Posted the wrong image! Thanks to everyone who commented, called and emailed in about it.

I can’t believe I’ve been taking photos of the princess for seven years and this is the first time I’ve gotten her in mid-leap, both paws off the ground, coming towards me. :) I was thrilled.

Can you believe that the Merrylog “turns 5″ this June? My very first post was on June 7, 2004. I’ve posted over 1,000 photos in the past five years and you’ve shared nearly 5,000 comments with us!

I’m thinking of putting together a photography book of “the best of Merry” for her photo blog’s 5th birthday, but wanted to get some input from all of you. If you have a moment, would you take the poll below? (If you have more opinions on the subject, I *want* ‘em! Just leave them in the comments below.) And a big thank you!

excitement

Nobody can show excitement like this little pug. Such happiness. Such glee at playing ball. How I wish I could bottle that and take a swig every so often – like today, when I’m feeling so sleepy and tired that I could totally curl back up in bed for the rest of the day.

happy girl

Sorry for the quiet around here, folks. It’s been a crazy few days and I just didn’t have the chance to get any new shots. But I figured this smiling happy girl might make y’all feel better about the lack of Merry posts the past two days. Isn’t she cute? Gosh I just want to squeeze her cheeks.

The pug is gently trying to remind me that it’s a gorgeous and balmy 18 degrees outside (that’s 64 degrees to our US neighbors) and I should not be crazily working on three different things at once but instead hanging out playing ball and possibly going to sit on a patio for drinks. Because c’mon. 18? That’s crazy insane!

Sadly, this “indian spring” will only last one day and we’ll be back down to freezing overnight. I cannot believe the weirdness of the weather, but hey, I’m not complaining – at least I was able to throw some windows open today and enjoy fresh breeze for the first time in months!

A fab weekend to all – get out and play if you can!

Because this, folks, is the puss that greets me every morning when I go to wake her up. Sweet, adorable, imploring me to let her curl back up in her little jammies and get back to the business of sleeping. Oh, my sweet Merry, how you’ve changed… I remember when YOU were the one dragging ME out of bed every morning (even weekends!!) because you just couldn’t wait any longer to greet the day.

kitchen play

I took the day off yesterday since I’d worked so many hours last week, and Merry and I worked in a lot of playtime. I would have liked to take her to the park to play but it was many moons below zero outside and it was just too cold for a long bout of park play.

Instead we hung out in the house, playing in the kitchen (and living room, and dining room, and bedroom…). She was SOOOO happy. :)

how do you reach?

Merry, crazy girl, how is it, with your (slender for a pug but yet still stocky, since you’re a pug) figure you manage to twist your entire body around to scratch your ear with your back foot? Honestly, I can’t sit with my legs straight out in front and touch my toes – ankles, sure, but toes are a wee bit beyond my reach.

On a side note, our favorite Great Dane ever, Gracie, suffered from bloat this weekend and had to have major tummy surgery. Luckily, she’s recovering well at home, but stop by if you can and wish her well. Also not a bad time to educate yourself on bloat.
