The princess and I were practicing rollovers today in the kitchen. I swear, that’s one of the HARDEST moves to catch on camera. Number of rollovers: i dunno, a billion? Number of decent shots: about two. Number of treats consumed trying to get this shot: You do NOT want to know. Good thing she was working it off! :)

you called?

A rare shot of the lovely miss pug in profile. Why rare? Because every. single. time. she hears the shutter click, she turns her body around to face me. She is a model, after all, through and through.

This time, however, she was distracted by the ball so when I called her name, just her wee head swung around to me in time to catch the shot!

Welcome to my new kitchen – or at least, a pugs-eye-view of it. I heart my robins-egg-bluey-green cupboards. The color has been an obsession for me ever since I saw this china (which I absolutely intend to start collecting because, yum). So, when we scoped out the new place and saw that the cupboards were painted the same color, I knew this house was meant to be for us.

The princess does not care, other than the air always tastes better in this room than any other. Hmm. Wonder why? ;)

waiting to go out

Every walk is the same routine: Dress the pug. Put on booties (if wearing). Put on collar and leash. Walk pug over to door. Attach pug to doorknob while I get my coat on. Does it look mean? She’s on a retractable, so it’s not tight on her and she can always pull away. Honestly, I’ve just always done it and it’s easy and simple and she stays right there because she knows she gets to go outside. But looking at this photo, you’d think I was torturing the poor little bit.

Does it look mean? Feel free to weigh in, in the comments.

Trust me, no pugs were harmed in the making of this photo. Plus, you all get to see my new (old) floors! We moved to a much older house this time ’round and some of the floors are original, which means scuffs and wear and really lovely character. :)

you want me to what?

Oh, the tilted head. I swear that you have that little head tilt expressly for the purpose of getting more treats out of me, your dad, and the rest of the world.

Insider note: I usually ask Merry one of three questions to get that head tilt:

  1. Where’s Grandpa?
  2. Where’s Daddy?
  3. Want some pizza?

I’ll spill the details about the pizza thing soon – want to get a photo to illustrate!

howler

Our neighbourhood park is surrounded by fence, which backs onto many of our neighbours’ back yards. One such back yard is filled with about seven different little Shih Tzus, all VERY territorial, who as soon as they see Merry wander into the park howl and yip and bark at her so she knows who’s boss. Mostly, I keep her close to me until we’re further away so she doesn’t howl back, but this morning I let her go just to get my daily photo (and chuckle). I did correct her once the photo was taken, but I couldn’t resist the cuteness of two paws off the ground and disgruntled pug face. :)

If you love it, see it larger on Flickr.

As if getting a cold, pulling a shoulder out and having to completely wipe a computer system and rebuild from scratch weren’t enough, January had one last surprise for my family: the Norwalk virus, which took us down one by one. I spent last week and the weekend on a couch or in a bed feeling very helpless (when I wasn’t dead to the world sleeping with fever, or trying to nurse my family through the same thing). Fun times!

Well, now that THAT is over with I’m working like a crazy person to try and get the February issue of Pampered Puppy ready to go live – a day late, erg – and the princess would like you to know that she is now VERY ready to play, after all that sickness and cuddling.

Where’s the ball, Merry? ;)
