Where on earth did the autumn go? Well, I can tell you – learning how to parent a teenager full-time, and playing nursemaid to a pug with a (still) bad eye. As a result Merrylog has languished for far too long without an update.
What’s new in the world of Merry? I wish I could tell you that her eye was 100% back to normal, but the truth is we’re still healing the ulcer although it’s now superficial (it no longer picks up stain during an exam, which means it’s in the top layers of the eye only). But the real problem has been the glaucoma. She still flirts in between 20 and 30 in eye pressure, and she’s basically on the maximum eye meds she can be to reduce pressure. What that boils down to is a crapshoot of eye vet visits – will the pressure shoot sky high again? Will the pressure be stable? Will even this high but stable, ish, pressure be so much that eventually they may have to take the eye/kill the eye anyway?
Oh, to have a single two week period where we’re not worrying about the furball! :)
However, as you can see, the princess has been learning new tricks! Just a month or two ago, my stepdaughter taught her how to shake a paw and now she’ll come up to you and just waggle her paw in the air hoping to get a treat. It’s adorable.
I thank all four of you who are still reading this for your continuing patience. I promise, at least ONE holiday photo of the puglet before the big guy in the red suit comes! :)

Thank you so much for the update! I think we have all been worrying about Merry! Fingers crossed that eye issues settle down soon! Have a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2012!
So glad to see an update! Cady-pug & I will continue to keep good wishes & prayers going for Miss Merry & your family. I have a previous holiday photo as my desktop background, so a new one would be the perfect Christmas gift. Wishing all a very “Merry” Christmas!

Yay!! So glad to see an update from Merry! Who says you can’t teach an old do new tricks?! Clever girl xx
There is no way I will stop following Merrylog anytime soon. As a fellow pug lover, she is too cute to miss single update and looks exactly like my Cheetos. Good wishes to Merry and Happy Christmas to all!
Ditto to all the above! There are so many of us out here, sending our heartfelt wishes to you and your beautiful puglet. Your photos and stories have brightened many of my days and I often think of your pup when I look at mine- he is the same age exactly. Thank for the update, and Best wishes for 2012.
I was getting so worried! The other day we even tried to make a comment on an old post to ask how everyone was, but the comments were disabled. Whew! What a relief to see sweet Merry’s little face! Sorry to hear that her eye is still an issue though. We’ll keep her in our prayers. Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!
Love,
Christy and Payton
I have been checking up here about twice a week looking for updates on Merry. It’s quite understandable that you have a life outside of this post and tending to Merry is of course a high priority. I do so enjoy your pictures and am amazed that you manage to get all those remarkably adorable poses. Your readership may be low but, judging by the comments, what you deliver to us that do drop by is much appreciated. Now go compost those leaves.

Sooooo happy to see an update on sweet Merry- I was so worried about the puglet!! I’m sorry she is having eye issues, but she looks perky and adorable anyway!! Take care, and hope to see a Christmas update soon! Best wishes to Merry and her entire family.
So happy to see Merry again looking like royalty, expecting someone to kiss her paw.
There are a bunch of us who love Merry and have been so worried about her and you too! Glad to hear that ya’ll have just been busy. Love that Merry learned a new trick too, super cute! Our pugs know how to spell the words, ham, cheese, bacon and snack…LOL! Silly pugs! Take care and have a wonderful Xmas and give Merry a big ole hug for all of us!

i have been looking for merry and so worried. what a sigh of relief when i saw the new post! sorry her eye is taking so long to heal. thank goodness she has you all to take such great care. so happy to see her – this shot is adorable! love you, merry. :)
It’s so good to read this! I’m glad Merry is progressing and hope the eye business will straighten out soon! I’ve been checking in frequently hoping for an update. It is so good to see her and her new trick.
I feel your pain as we have been to the doggie eye doctor probably 20 times in the past year for ulcers in both eyes and an inexplicable redness in one. Merry seems to be in good spirits though, and hopefully she isn’t in pain. Our pugs Daisy and Max send their love!
Sooo adorable!!!
Love the paw waggle :) We have Missed Merry a lot – but glad that you are both back in action and look forward to a new year of puggy craziness from you and your family :)
I just read this update and wanted to offer my two cents regarding dogs with eye issues. I had a boxer who developed glaucoma literally over night. Her eye pressure was sky high and was admitted to the emergency room for evaluation. The long and short of it was she did end up losing her eye however the transition for her was not as extreme as it was for me. She had already lost her eye sight in her eye so the act of removing it for her was not a big deal. For me however it was huge. I had to come to terms with it. And I had all these questions – would she look the same? Would she have the same expressions? Would she be a totally different dog? It was very difficult for me but she did go ahead and have the eye removed and she was fine. Like I said she had already lost vision in that eye so she had no adjusting to do in terms of balance etc. And she was the same beautiful dog she always was. Just wanted to put that out there to you. Hopefully it won’t come to this for Merry. Happy New Year!
