Category: Pug Misc

Poor pug. Both her Dad and I have been hit with one heck of a wicked cold. It has laid both of us out flat for nearly a week – I don’t think we’ve ever had such an unproductive slothy weekend before. Literally all we did was sleep, eat, and couch. As a result, the pug got lots of cuddle time but very little play time and very short walks. I was finally able to drag myself off the couch yesterday for long enough to do a brief photo shoot in the office – where, above, Merry shared with me her thoughts on the situation.

Caught during our week of holidays before all the s-n-o-w arrived around here. Merry would like you to know that she misses the grass, but sends big pug cuddles to all of you.

The one bright light in a gloomy November is the ability to break out some of the princess’s adorable raincoat collection. I love, love, love this black patent coat – though I’m never quite sure what to do with the zippered pocket over her hips. Lipstick? Emergency cash? What do people put in these pockets, anyway? ;)

Dear Mom: I know you’re busy, sick with a sinus infection, and tired. But I’m tired of having uninspired shots taken of me – I mean,  puh-leeze, I’m a professional model already. These easy to get grass shots are cute once in a while but really? I need to challenge myself, darling. So let’s pull out the flash kit sometime soon and work on getting some fun and more inspired shots – something I can really vogue to (not that I was alive back when that term was popular). Thank you.

Folks, I appreciate – so much – your kind comments to my goodbye, jennybee post. Thank you, as always, for your support.

You will go to the store and get me some bacon.

You will find the ball and spend the next two days playing fetch with me.

You will let me lick all of the salt from every square inch of your hands and feet because that is what I do.

Don’t you just want to let her have her way when she fixes that stare on you? Yes, little one, you are a persuasive pug indeed.

I’m so excited – we’re already planning our trip to Pugoween this year to let the niblet run around with dozens of other becostumed puggies and to allow me some of that multi-pug love, sitting on the floor surrounded by a dozen little snorters or more at a time . Bliss. Not sure which costume to put the puglet in. More to discuss on this in posts to come. :)

For the first time in months, we had a perfectly relaxing weekend. I got to catch up a little on my sleep. I got to cook (a goose, no less – my first!). I got to read a little. There may have been a second nap in there. And the princess and I got a little time to play, a little time to walk around the neighbourhood and breathe in the fresh fall air, and a little time to snuggle.

I have a huge list of “todos” that make me feel guilty, of course – that list didn’t really decrease at all this weekend – but it was a relaxation sorely needed. Recharge my batteries so to speak.

Am I the only one who feels guilty about taking that kind of time?

Welcome to the new Merrylog.com! The design of the site isn’t much to write home about, I don’t have a Blogroll up and running or the images of Merry all categorized up the way I’d like, but at least all of the links and images work, which means for better or worse… we’re here. :)

The princess misses all of you dearly, and can’t wait to tell you about her newest adventures. But first, she wanted to treat you with her head-tilt-butter-wouldn’t-melt-who-me-bark-at-something? pose, which is her all time favorite pose to strike around the house. *laughs*

The place is full of boxes, we haven’t unpacked yet, and we’re likely to find lots of things that got lost or broken in the move… but we’re in our new digs! More details soon; I’m focusing on getting all posts and images showing up and then I’ll have more to say. :)

sweet brown eyes

I love her eyes. Even with the cataract (left eye) and the destroyed retina (right eye) her little peeps are still just the sweetest thing ever. It’s not always easy to remember that she’s 100% blind now, because sometimes she’ll actually “look” right at you with those lovely little peeps, and then you fall in love all over again. :)

I love when she gives me this look – like she’d never do anything wrong in the world. Like lick the entire house and its owners half to death. Like bark at 2 am because the dust motes were not pleasing to her.

Not that I should complain – really, all things considered she’s probably the easiest dog to have around. She loves people, loves to play, loves to cuddle, loves hanging out in the kitchen (a.k.a. hoping for food). She’s not aggressive but not passive and wants nothing more than to be loved.

Which is, of course, why we do. :)
